The rugged bison is often seen strolling through the boiling pools of Yellowstone national park, with little regard for the posted warning signs. When they aren't ignoring safety warnings, you may also find them blocking traffic on some of the major of roads that cut through the park. Despite their lack of regard for the rule of law, bsion are one of the icons of Yellowstone. Able to withstand the bitterly cold summers and burning hot summers, the population of has recovered from 23 animals in the 19th century to the almost 6000 that call the park home today.
