The rugged bison is often seen strolling through the boiling pools of Yellowstone national park, with little regard for the posted warning signs. Able to withstand the bitterly cold summers and burning hot summers, the population of has recovered from 23 animals in the 19th century to the almost 6000 that call the park home today.
